Thanks to its amino acids, powerful antioxidants, vitamins, theanine, catechin, and chlorophyll matcha is full of benefits for both body and mind :
Three weeks before harvest, the tea plants are protected from light by opaque nets and compensate for this darkness by an intense production of chlorophyll, amino acids, vitamins, nutrients, trace elements and powerful antioxidants which give it its exceptional qualities .
The youngest shoots from the first harvest of the year are then briefly exposed to steam, then dried naturally and finally ground into powder using traditional Japanese know-how.
Thanks to this traditional process , matcha improves thinking, concentration, brings calm and serenity and its high content of nutrients, minerals, vitamins and powerful antioxidants make it an incomparable natural ally for your physical and mental health.
It is known to be a healthy substitute for coffee thanks to L Theanine which provides long-lasting energy without feeling jittery or nervous.
Matcha originated in China. In 1191, Buddhist monks brought back seeds from China to plant in the garden of their temple in Kyoto. They noticed that consuming it helped them stay focused and awake during their long hours of meditation .
They thus made it a ritual, a ceremony, whose four basic principles are: harmony (wa), respect (kei), purity (sei) and tranquility (jaku). This ceremony is also known as " Chanoyu ", the way of tea.
Later, samurai warriors would also practice the matcha ceremony and consume it for its medicinal properties but also before going into combat because it brought them sustained energy and mental clarity.
Finally, the consumption of matcha gradually spread to the Japanese bourgeoisie and then to the people much later.
