Matcha for Food Lovers: Pastries, Spreads, and Sweet Treats
These past few weeks, this blog has talked a lot about benefits: catechins, L-theanine, blood sugar, inflammation. Serious topics, which we'll keep covering with the same care. Today, a change of pace: matcha is also a treat, a sweet pleasure, an ingredient you want to find in a pastry rather than in a wellness routine. No promise of benefits in this article, just the desire to indulge.
Matcha in pastry, a playground of its own
The matcha you drink from a bowl and the matcha you cook with aren't the same product, and that's by design. A matcha meant for sipping, umami and slightly bitter, can easily overpower a cake batter or a cream, whereas a culinary matcha is specifically designed to blend into a recipe without overwhelming the other flavors, all while keeping its color and character.
That's exactly the role of our Le Pâtissier, a matcha grown and harvested in Yame, on the island of Kyushu, from the Yabukita cultivar. It was designed for food lovers, home bakers and the curious who want to twist their recipes, rather than for the traditional whisked preparation, to be stirred into a porridge, a cake, a smoothie or a homemade ice cream.
Our treats range is growing
Le Pâtissier is no longer alone in this category. Our matcha spread is back as of yesterday, with a new recipe, even more indulgent, even more melt-in-your-mouth, with no additives or preservatives, made in an artisan chocolate shop in the south of France. Perfect to enjoy on a slice of bread, a crêpe or straight off the spoon.
And this is only the beginning. Our treats range will keep growing before the end of the year, with new ways to enjoy matcha beyond the morning bowl. We'd rather not reveal too much for now, but more new products are indeed on the way.
New indulgent recipes every week on our blog
If this has put you in the mood to cook with matcha, our recipe blog is right up your alley. Les recettes de Stelle fills up every week with new treat ideas: banana bread, cupcakes, white chocolate and matcha croffles, cookies, lattes reinvented with the seasons. Plenty to twist your classics all year round, with a new recipe to discover every week.
In summary
Matcha isn't limited to a morning bowl or a list of benefits, it's also an indulgent ingredient in its own right. Our range is growing in that direction, with Le Pâtissier and our spread today, and more new products before the end of the year. In the meantime, our recipe blog is already packed with ways to twist your classics, every week.
