Hot Matcha Latte: The Perfect Recipe

The comforting counterpart to our iced matcha latte: the hot version, just as simple, with no fruit or syrup. Just hot milk, well-whisked matcha, and that distinctive frothy texture. A go-to basic recipe to have on hand, summer and winter alike.

Ingrédients

100 ml milk (dairy or plant-based)
3.5 g of ceremonial matcha
30 ml water at 75°C (167°F)
Préparation

Heat the milk in a saucepan over low/medium heat.
Meanwhile, pour the matcha and 15 ml of water into your pouring bowl. Mix with the chasen until you get a smooth, lump-free paste.
Add the 20 ml of water at 70°C (158°F) to this paste.
Whisk with your chasen, using quick "W" or zigzag motions, until you get a smooth, lightly frothy liquid.
Pour the hot milk into your cup.
Pour the whisked matcha on top, without stirring, to keep the foam on the surface.
Enjoy immediately.
