All about our Matcha 🔎
-
Several accessories are commonly used in the Japanese tea ceremony. Here are the main accessories needed to prepare matcha tea as traditionally done:
-
Chawan (porcelain bowl): A traditional shallow porcelain bowl specially designed for preparation. It is often chosen for its wide shape, which makes it easier to mix the matcha with water.
- Chasen (bamboo whisk): A traditional bamboo whisk for whipping matcha and creating a light foam on the surface. It has fine bristles that help blend the matcha powder and water evenly. If you don't have a chasen, you can use an electric whisk or blender. However, the results won't be as satisfying.
- Chashaku (bamboo spoon): A bamboo spoon for measuring the appropriate amount of matcha powder.
At Nōka Matcha , we offer you a 100% bamboo chasen with 120 stems ! More efficient and more resistant than the 80 or 100 stem chasen, our whisk is the essential accessory for preparing your matcha tea. To prepare traditional matcha tea , you will need the following utensils: a porcelain bowl (chawan), a bamboo whisk (chasen), a bamboo spoon (chashaku).
Start by scooping the right amount of powder with the spoon, then sift the matcha into the bowl to remove any lumps . Then add hot water (around 80°C) to the bowl and use the bamboo whisk to whisk vigorously until you get a smooth foam . Serve immediately in a cup or flat-bottomed glass.
This preparation can also be drunk by adding plant-based milk, sugar, honey, or any other ingredient! Matcha can be drunk cold or hot, depending on your preferences.
